2017 Vinyl Swimming Pool Liner Prices

Vinyl swimming pool liners go up in price every year.  Market conditions from 2008 to 2014 worked to keep prices relatively flat.  However, prices have started to rise again and have averaged approximately three to four percent higher during the 2015 and 2016 pool seasons.  Vinyl swimming pool liner prices in 2017 are roughly four percent higher than prices in 2016.

There are many variables effecting the prices of vinyl pool liners.  Some of the most common factors are:

Macro Economic Trends

Regardless of your politics…the swearing in of President Trump has resulted in massive economic growth.  The stock market is at all time highs and businesses are hiring agressively again.  Larger corporations (both American and Foreign) are publicly planning a return to America to set up operations which will result in literally trillions of dollars being injected into the American economy.  While these trends will obviously be a massive benefit to all Americans it will also cause a slight rise in vinyl pool liner pricing in the short term.  Over the long haul price increases will be kept down due to increased competition and overall market activity.

Virgin Vinyl Pricing

Vinyl is a petroleum based product.  Over the years it has become more and more popular (just like with paper products) to recycle vinyl in order to reduce costs and protect the environment.  However, non recycled vinyl, or virgin vinyl is higher in quality than recycled vinyl.  Even though you might pay fifty to one hundred dollars more for virgin vinyl the cost is more than justified because of the increase in pool liner longevity.

The Price of Oil

As mentioned in the previous paragraph vinyl is a petroleum based product. Although oil prices certainly aren’t at an all time high (remember $4 gas) the price of oil has definately started to creep back up year after year.  This has a small effect on the final price of your new vinyl pool liner.

So How Much Does a New Vinyl Pool Liner Cost?

A vinyl pool liner for a 16 X 32 pool will generally run from $2820 to $3100.  Extra skimmers, steps, pool lights and other pool custimizations / conditions will put you closer to the high end of this price range.

A vinyl pool liner for a 16 X 32 pool will generally run from $3210 to $3500.  Extra skimmers, steps, pool lights and other pool custimizations / conditions will put you closer to the high end of this price range.
