Swimming Pool Closing and Winterizing 2017
Pool owners essentially have three choices when it comes to maintaining their swimming pools in the winter.
- Keep the pool open year round.
- Keep the pool open year round AND cover the pool.
- Winterize the swimming pool completely.
Keeping the pool open year round is a great option because there is no need to establish a chemical baseline in the spring which saves a lot of money and there is little chance of having the pool go green because it is being maintained weekly throughout the year. Lazy Day offers pretty big discounts for clients who keep their pool open year round and this has resulted in about 60% of our clients doing so.
Keeping the pool open year round but covering the pool from October 1st to February 15th each year gives you the best of both worlds. Lazy Day pricing actually costs less per year to do this than to hire us seasonally with a pool opening service in the spring and a pool closing service in the fall. It keeps leaves out of the pool during the fall and your pool equipment will last longer with this program.
Some pool owners still do a traditional opening and closing each year. This is by far the most expensive way to maintain your pool but old habits die hard! Consider keeping your pool open year round or year round with cover to save money and increase pool equipment longevity. You will be happy you did.
