Swimming pool safety covers last approximately 10 to 12 years on average. The warranty for safety covers is for when the sewn straps fail during the waranty period. The warranty does not cover shredding of the material itself or punctures in the cover materil itself. Based on my experience (over 1000 safety covers installed) it is less than 1% of the safety covers that will fail in such a way that is covered by warranty. In fact, most safety covers fail due to a falling tree branch than anything else. Once the safety cover material has been punctured or torn it will get worse very quickly. This is similar to what happens with inground vinyl pool liners when they tear above the water liner. Doct tape won’t do the trick!
