The only way to prevent pool liner fading is to install a drinkable pool water system on your swimming pool (aka ecosmarte system). Salt systems and chlorine based systems bleach pool liners very quickly. Drinkable pool water systems cause almost zero fading.
In a five year study conducted by Lazy Day Pools from 2006 to 2011 new liners were monitored for 5 years. Half of the liners were in pools that were using salt systems and the other half of the pool liners were in pools that were using ecosmarte drinkable pool water systems. After five years all of the salt system pools showed 50% or more in fading below the water line while none of the drinkable pool water system pool liners showed any signs of fading. This was not a scientific study but the results were very clear that drinkable pool water systems go a long way to prevent pool liner fading.
Additionally, the study found that pools with drinkable pool water systems were much less likely to show signs of corrosion on pool equipment and lights. drinkable pool water systems are not a magic pill and there are some drawbacks to the system. Make sure you ask the business from which you are purchasing the system to explain the downsides of owning a drinkable pool water system as well.
